Did you know there is a place where gymnastics, dance, and swimming meet?

Artistic Swimming is an Olympic discipline blending swimming, gymnastics, and dance into choreographed routines set to music. Athletes demonstrate extreme strength, flexibility, and breath control while performing acrobatic lifts and complex underwater movements in synchronization with partners or teammates.

Cowboy Swim Academy is excited to bring artistic swimming to Oklahoma. Don't miss out on the chance to be one of the charter athletes of Oklahoma's first artistic swim team.

We will begin offering introductory Mermaid Skills classes in late March. Summer 2026 we will introduce our recreational artistic swim summer program. This program will give swimmers the opportunity to participate in an end of season water show highlighting their new skills.

Who can enroll?

Boys and girls age 5 and older may enroll in our mermaid skills classes.

Are there any commitments or swim requirements?

Swimmers must be able to swim independently across the Cowboy Swim pool. Swimmers may enroll in classes with no further commitment to participate in a team.

Why Artistic Swimming?

Darcey Smith, co-owner of Cowboy Swim Academy, has an extensive background in synchronized swimming. As a member of the Arizona Aqua Stars she spent many years competing on the national level as a part of their age group team. In college Darcey developed a summer program for the City of Tempe and spent time coaching with Scottsdale Synchro. Darcey has recently reconnected with her coach, Linda Lichter-Witter. Linda and her daughter in law AnneMarie Lichter coach The Lakes Mermaids and will be mentoring Darcey through the introduction of artistic swimming in Oklahoma. Linda and AnneMarie both come with extensive resumes in the sport and we are excited to have their support.
